The Pittsburgh Penguins dropped the first game of their back-to-back on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils 2-1 in a shootout. And with it being Sunday and it finally being the second end of the back-to-back, it is time for the home contest against the Los Angeles Kings.
And with it being the home game for this weekend, it is one of the most anticipated times in recent Penguins history in the last few years. It is finally time for Sergei Murashov to make his NHL debut as he is most likely slated to play this one as Arturs Silovs tended the goal for the Penguins against the Devils.
It only made sense to start Murashov at home so the fans can absolutely roar when he is introduced and gets to make his debut. This debut has been in the works for a while, but is just coming way sooner than expected because of the recent injury to goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Penguins fans were a bit upset when head coach Dan Muse did not start Murashov at home against the Washington Capitals on Thursday night. But the thing with that was, Muse was just staying on his usual goalie rotation that he has been doing all season long.
It was Silovs turn in the rotation to get the net, so he was the one that started the game this past Thursday night. But it also made sense to wait to start Murashov against the Kings than it was to start him against the Devils, as the Devils are a much better team than the Kings and the Penguins did not want to throw Murashov into the fire like that.
But Penguins fans are finally getting what they have wished for for so long now. They have been waiting for the kid to make his debut, and it is finally here. Enjoy it Penguins fans because Murashov is the future for the Penguins and he will be winning a lot of games for them as the years go on.
