When the Penguins entered this 7-game road-trip, personally I saw them going 4-3 or maybe 5-2. They are currently 2-1 with 4 more games to play. They play the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, the Seattle Kraken on Saturday, the San Jose Sharks on Monday, and the Utah Hockey Club on the following Wednesday.
If the Penguins are serious about getting back in this race, they need to win all four of these games, no matter if they reach overtime or a shootout in any of them.
The last meeting between the Penguins and Ducks
The last time the two of these teams met, it was on Halloween Night from Pittsburgh and it was very low scoring.
Alex Killorn opened the scoring for the Ducks at 15:50 of the first period and they took that lead into the third period.
That is until Sidney Crosby tied the game at 1:47 of the third period and then won it himself in overtime on a mini breakaway off a turnover.
The Penguins will look to sweep the season series from the Ducks on Thursday Night.
The last meeting between the Penguins and Kraken
The last time these two teams met, it was recently 8 days ago on January 14th. This was the game where the Penguins allowed a very early shorthanded goal from Chandler Stephenson, took the lead, and then allowed 2 late goals in the third period in a 4-2 loss.
The Penguins need to avenge themselves in this one on Saturday afternoon and pick up a much needed 2 points.
The last meeting between the Penguins and Sharks
The last time these two teams met, it was on November 16th with the Penguins emerging victorious 4-3 in a shootout.
This is the game where the Penguins took a 3-0 lead, blew it, and just squeaked by in a shootout.
That can not happen again when they meet on Monday Night, the Penguins have to actually hold the lead if they get one.
The last meeting between the Penguins and Utah Hockey Club
The last time these two teams met was on November 16th and the Penguins got destroyed on home-ice, dropped to 7-12-4, and everyone thought major changes were coming.
This was also the game where Crosby scored his 600th career goal and it was a letdown because of the final score.
The Penguins can not get down early in this game and fall apart like they did in the first meeting.
