Tristan Jarry had a successful first outing as the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins goalie in the team's Saturday night 3-2 victory over the Syracuse Crunch.

Jarry had an eventful week. He was on the West Coast/Canadian road trip with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jarry was then sent home on Wednesday, conditionally assigned to Wilkes Barre Scranton on Saturday, and played in Saturday night's home game.

His struggles at goal at Pittsburgh in the first week of the season have been well publicized. Jarry's five year contract netting over $5 million a year has also been widely discussed and believed to be a major complication for a potential trade.

Will Jarry regain his form?

Jarry, 29, has spent his entire career in Pittsburgh. The Penguins brass including GM Kyle Dabas and Coach Mike Sullivan have openly spoken about goalies sometimes struggling with form and confidence over the course of their careers.

Jarry's WBS performance is not yet indicative that his issues have disappeared, but it is a positive first step in that direction. Not only did he save 32 of 34 shots, but he also stayed tough as the Syracuse Crunch posed a late game comeback.

In the meantime, both Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist have performed well at the goalie position for the Pittsburgh Penguins and are not viewed as the problems associated with the team's disappointing 3-6-1 start.

While the Pittsburgh Penguins struggle, WBS is performing well

The 4-2 Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins are in third place in the AHL Atlantic Division behind 5-1-1 Hersey and 5-1 Charlotte.

The WBS Penguins have two games this week, a Wednesday 10/30 road contest against Bridgeport at 7 PM ET and a Saturday 11/2 6:05 PM ET home game against Hartford.
