Thoughts
Four of the top-10 goalies in the league, according to EA Sports ratings, are Metropolitan Division goaltenders. I honestly can’t disagree with this list and imagine, there’s another goalie named Marc-Andre Fleury that’s likely rated an 88 overall that just missed the cut for this list. That’s pretty impressive for one division.
The most impressive name on this list for me is Cory Schneider. He was a top-5 goaltender in the NHL last season despite the poor play of the team in front of him. Given last season’s performance, I’d be tempted to bump him up even further on this list and rank him just above Tuukka Rask.
For Pens’s fans, it’s likely disappointing that Fleury isn’t rated quite that high. But, keep in mind that Fleury isn’t all that dominant from an individual stats standpoint.
