What else would you expect? There's only one "Captain".

The NHL announced today that Sidney Crosby has been named the captain of Team Canada in the Four Nations Faceoff set to begin February 12th, featuring USA, Canada, Sweden, and Finland.

Crosby is no stranger to international tournaments. Who could forget his golden goal at the 2010 Winter Olympics to win gold for the Canadians?

Now I'm about as American as it gets (play Free Bird, please), but even I can't help but get chills watching that highlight.

It's certainly not ridiculous to say that this is the biggest goal Crosby has scored in his life, and that's knowing that there are over 600 choices to say otherwise.

Crosby's international stats are just as good as you'd hope. In two Winter Olympics, The Kid has five goals and five assists (10 points) in 13 games. At age 29 in the 2016 World Cup, Crosby led team Canada with 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in just six games, winning MVP of the tournament in Canada's championship victory.

It's interesting to note that every time Crosby has captained Team Canada in an international tournament, Canada has gone on to win it.

A lesser known win for Crosby was the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi when Team Canada edged the United States in the semifinal then trounced Finland in the gold medal game. Crosby scored the second of three goals in that one.

With the Penguins in a lull right now, it's exciting for Sid to have the opportunity to play in a high-stakes tournament with the best of the best combining to make some incredible hockey.

The dilemma arrives, unless you're a Canadian Penguins fan, do you root for Team Canada in hopes Crosby can put another achievement in his laundry list? Chime in on our Twitter/X poll @PensLabyrinthFS and tell us what you think!
