It is with great displeasure that I must announce that the Luke Schenn era in Pittsburgh has come to a close. His jersey sales were through the roof in his 14 minutes in the black and gold.
Once again, this is looking like an absolute masterclass by Kyle Dubas.
The original report is a 2026 2nd and 2027 4th round pick from the Winnipeg Jets in return for the Predators/Penguins' defenseman.
The #NHLJets are sending a second-round and fourth-round pick to Pittsburgh for Luke Schenn.

The veteran 35 year-old defenseman was acquired in the Michael Bunting trade with the Predators on Wednesday along with Tommy Novak. Schenn getting repurposed at the deadline was predicted by several analysts and fans, and they proved right.
As of now Michael Bunting has fetched a 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and a promising center. And here's your reminder that Bunting had 4 points in his previous 16 games before being sidelined due to appendix surgery.
The Jake Guentzel trade tree is continuing to grow beautiful branches and leaves.
Schenn is a physical defenseman often towards the top of the league in hits that has been known for being a glue guy in his time with Nashville. His worth on a bottom feeder like Pittsburgh was limited, so Dubas rightfully flipped him to get more draft capital.
Luke Schenn told the Penguins that he wanted to play for a contender. The Penguins initially wanted to keep him.

The Penguins had the option to keep Schenn as a placeholder for the absence of Vincent Desharnais, whom they traded to San Jose for a future draft pick. The Penguins will now be leaning heavily on Vladislav Kolyachonok to log minutes in the final stretch of the season.
This looks to be another Kyle Dubas masterclass in asset acquisition. The Penguins are primed to have a monopoly on mid-round picks in these upcoming drafts.
Don’t look now but the Penguins have the most draft picks of any team in the NHL in the next three drafts.
