UPDATED: The Penguins processed their third trade on Deadline Day, sending Cody Glass to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a 2027 3rd round pick and two young prospects. As part of the deal, Pittsburgh sends Jonathan Gruden to complete the deal.

Glass was seen as a prime trade candidate and will finish the final year of his contract with a playoff contender. The Penguins will clear out his $2.5M cap hit for this season.

Glass had some flashes of streakiness this season with the Penguins, and his four goals and 11 assists tend to suggest the 25 year old is on a downward trajectory after a 14 goal season with Nashville two years ago.

Nashville traded Glass to the Penguins along with a 2025 3rd round and 2026 6th round pick for Jordan Frasca, who has not played in the NHL.

Glass projects as a bottom six center with New Jersey. Even though he's one of the younger pieces the Penguins had, his production was good enough to be moved but not enough to move the dial with Pittsburgh.

The Penguins have now dealt Michael Bunting, Anthony Beauvillier, Luke Schenn, and Cody Glass as the final minutes of the NHL Trade Deadline tick down.

The Return

Chase Stillman is a 21 year-old Canadian forward who enjoyed several really nice seasons in the OHL. Since moving into the AHL, he has 33 points in 100 games with the Utica Comets, but the bulk of his production came in 2023-24 when he notched 14 goals and 10 assists in 54 games.

Stillman is having a bit of a down year with Uitca and is yet to make his NHL debut. He was a former first round pick by the New Jersey Devils back in 2021, and profiles as a great energy guy. He has a young, hard-working spirit that should bode well for his development.

Max Graham is a very intriguing acquisition. He's a 20 year-old, 6'3", 209lb forward that was selected in the 5th round of last year's NHL draft.

He is an excellent passer and is great at manipulating lanes to fit pucks in, leading to a whole bunch of assists. This season he's playing at a point-per-game pace with the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL with 13 goals and 23 assists, the best numbers per/game that he's had in his young career.

Going along with the trend of the day, Kyle Dubas seems to have made another great move, this time acquiring objective young talent to feed into the prospect pool.

Dubas smelled blood in the water after New Jersey lost Jack Hughes for the season due to injury. He made out like a bandit and got back two young players for the expiring contract of Cody Glass.

Absolute cinema.
